State environmental planning policies deal with issues significant to the state and people of New South Wales.  The following SEPPs apply to Lake Macquarie.

SEPP (Exempt and Complying Development Codes) 2008

State Environmental Planning Policy (Exempt and Complying Development Codes) 2008 (the Codes SEPP) specifies exempt development under that Policy. The Codes SEPP has state-wide application commencing from 27 February 2009. Consequently, from that date, the exempt development provisions (for the development types covered by the Codes SEPP) in Lake Macquarie Local Environmental Plan 2004, will no longer apply.
