About Council

With the city's population fast approaching 200,000, Lake Macquarie City Council is one of the largest Councils in NSW, employing over 1100 people.  Council provides the community with a diverse range of products and services to improve our residents' lifestyle.

In broad terms, Council's vision is to achieve a balance between the environment and development of the city.  Council also encourages community spirit and participation in a broad range of sport, recreation, and community activities.  The economic prosperity of the city is also a focus, as is the development of cultural diversity and protection of the city's heritage.
